JUDITH KNIFFIN

Age 65 of Elmira, NY passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at her home.  Born March 19, 1951, Judy was a lifelong Elmira resident.  Judy was a dedicated advocate for individuals with mental illness.  She spoke at rallies in Elmira, Albany and Washington, D.C. on the rights of patients to access quality mental health treatment.  In 2015, she was honored by the Elmira Psychiatric Center for her tireless advocacy on behalf of those with mental illness.  Judy was a founding board member and the first president of the Social Connection, a community mental health drop-in center in Elmira.  Judy will be fondly remembered by friends and family for her humor, warmth and honesty.  Friends and family are invited to a memorial service and celebration of Judy's life at the Social Connection at 454 Church St. Elmira NY on August 24, 2016 at 2:30PM.
