Karen O'Hare (Bennett)

Karen Louise Bennett of Eustis, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 70. She was born in Elmira, New York and moved to Eustis 3 years ago from Horseheads, New York. Karen worked as a confidential secretary for the Chemung County District Attorney’s office for 27 years. She met the love of her life, Alan Bennett and after 5 years they were married. After retiring from the DA’s office, she worked as a school crossing guard for the Elmira Heights School District. When Karen retired, she and Alan traveled and decided to make an extended stay in Eustis. Karen was a Disney fanatic. She loved everything Disney. She enjoyed cross stitch and crocheting and like to do puzzles. Karen loved the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing and just sitting and watching the birds. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul O’Hare in 2019. Karen is remembered and will be dearly missed by her husband of 30 years, Alan; daughters, Jennifer (Larry) Starkweather of Milton, Pennsylvania, Alisha Bennett of Elmira and Kendall (Joey) Lanzillotto of Horseheads; son, Jeremy Waltimire of Elmira Heights; sisters, Sandy Beach of Palm Bay, Florida, Cheryl (Larry) Coon of Corning, New York and Marcia (Carlos) Mejia of Dawsonville, Georgia; and grandchildren, Mitchell Rockwell of Horseheads, Dominick Waltimire of Elmira Heights, Atticus Waltimire of Elmira Heights, Sage Barto of Milton, Pennsylvania, Colby (Rei) Barto of North Carolina, Logan Barta of Milton, Kyleigh Bennett and Elizabeth Bennet, both of Elmira.

So sad to hear of Karen's passing. I had just wished her a Happy 70th Birthday.  I remember fun times with band, whether in practice, parades or football games. Rest In Peace Karen.
