Joel D. Henderson

Joel Henderson, 68, of Elmira Heights, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and those he was close to.  Born on June 11, 1952 in Elmira, he was the son of the late James H. and Mary (Tilford) Henderson.  He attended Alfred State College, graduating in 1974.

Joel was known by all who knew him for his kind disposition and sense of humor.  He was a member of the Chemung County Rod & Gun Club and the New York State Bird Dog Association.  He also frequently visited his comrades at Curly's Chicken House.  

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Craig Henderson and his daughter-in-law, Danine (Bejerke) Henderson.

He is survived by his son, Michael Henderson of Wellsburg; his daughter, Amanda Henderson of Elmira Heights; his granddaughters, Sage and Audreyanna Henderson; his brothers, Thomas Henderson of Elmira, Gerold (Florence) Holloway; his aunt, Leone Welch of Pine City; his nephews, Jim (Holly) Henderson and Scott Henderson; his sister-in-law, Frances Henderson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family; burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joel's memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 161 N. Clark, Suite 3550, Chicago, Illinois  60601 or The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY  10016.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of our friend Joel.We will miss seeing that smile and hearing your hello; We will miss seeing you at Curly's. You are at peace and heaven has gained an angel with quite the sense of humor❤Rest easy Joel.
