Stephen L. Age 48 beloved husband of Candace and loving and devoted father of Stephen and Jeffrey. Passed away very unexpectedly Wednesday, April 4th, 2001. Born in Elmira, NY on August 11th, 1952 the beloved son of the late Raymond and Beverly Niles Scofield. Stephen married his life companion and friend Candace Wich Scofield, on May the 28th, 1977. They enjoyed their life together, through the somber times and times of joy. They lived as one. Shortly after they where married Stephen and Candace were blessed with two wonderful and loving sons, Stephen R. Scofield and Jeffrey Scofield both presently living at home. Also surviving Stephen is his Step Mother Ruth Scofield of Pine City, NY, Sister and brother in law: Susan and William Houston of Aurora, CO and Brother Wayne Scofield of Dryden, NY; two nieces and a nephew: Melissa, Scott Houston and Nikki Scofield. Loving companion LoBo and a host of cherished friends. The family will receive friends at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Sunday, April 8th, 2001 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral Services will be held there Monday, April 9th at 10:00am. Father William Lutz will officiate. Following the funeral service, Stephen will rest in peace in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Steve worked for Airgas East here in Elmira, NY since 1995. Prior to his employment there he was a devoted employee of Upstate Milk for many years. He was very active in the Teamsters Union acting as Union Steward of Union #529. Those nearest to Steve knew him by his love for his family, the enjoyment he had hunting and fishing and his smile that was worth a thousand words. Steve was a devoted supporter of the National Rifle Assoc. and the Elmira Jackals. He was the Committee Chairman of the Five Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America Troup #15. He loved everything about Scouting and shaping the minds of good Scouts. Steve was always eager to attend the next weekend campout with the scouts. He will be missed by many. The mark and memories he gave to us will always remain with us. Those wishing may make memorials in Stephen L.
